Dragon's Lair Comics & Games (Blondo)

We came here because we heard they had some Pokémon cards for my kiddo to search through. We hit the jackpot! They have several boxes of singles to pick through as well as some more rare collector cards in the displays. The staffperson seemed tickled by our family and gave us two Pokémon tins with a dozen freebie cards. We spent the better part of an hour here and had a great time! Fantastic place.

My seven year old is into Pokemon, and someone told us Dragon's Lair has cards. Someone spent time walking us through all of the different boxes and types of cards in them. My son had a blast and we visit every 1-2 weeks. My wife and I love sorting the cards, too. The staff comes up with creative ways to get kids interested, like free tins with cards and other fun collector's items. The Disney card game recently launched, and people are buying up cards and re-selling at insane prices. Dragon's Lair allowed people to reserve one set and had events to learn how to play. I love how they want to build a community and bring games to people without breaking the bank.

I loved this place as a kid. Between the ages of 7 and 20 this place was my home away from home. I lived in the Hillside neighborhood, four blocks away. I could walk out of my front door, down to the street and I would be able to tell if Dragon's Lair was open or not. I spent years, sneaking out of the house, hopping between Jake's, Dragon's Lair and Mary's. I remember going through the entrance that was in the alleyway, before both of their major expansions. All this is to say, I've been around the block with these guys. They are the real deal, OG comic book and D&D gaming location in Omaha. I spent hours a day thumbing through the back issues bins. Tortured myself deciding what quarter comics I could spend $1 on. And to this day the sounds of NeoGeo and Street Fighter 2 instantly make me think of the shop. The only real criticism I have is the customer service that others mention. Listen, there was nothing bad said or done BUT, even after everything I laid out, they NEVER acted like they knew me, acknowledged me, recognized me, liked seeing me, NOTHING. Untold number of punch cards were offered to me by Bob despite him offering one to me mere days prior. The only time I was ever remembered was in the early 90's when a guy named Donnie was in charge of the sports cards. He was a cool guy that made me and my buddies feel like valued customers. All the others? Forget it. Sharon was a super sweet lady but she too never seemed to really invest in customers. Growing up in that little strip with shops and spending every dollar I made mowing grass or shoving snow was not a bad way go through life as a kid!

I have been shopping here now for 40 years since the old location. First when I was in to comics and then for the miniature war gaming. Some people will say they have bad customer service or rude employees. But I usually come in and grab what I'm looking for if they have it then I leave. No fuss no muss. You may have a different experience but for what my needs are it's good
